Robert A. Goldstein graduated from Boalt Hall in 1965. He worked as a Deputy Legislative Counsel for the State of California for approximately one year. He was involved in statutes involving consumer protection. He was an attorney with the Alameda County Legal Aid Society for seven years. He was involved in consumer litigation matters and class actions as a legal aid attorney. He has been in private practice since 1973. He has more than 35 years legal experience in handling matters involving consumer protection. Some of the reported cases in which he has been involved include: King v. Rogers Family Funeral Home, the cases were certified after a contested hearing.

He was commended by the Court in Lealao v. Beneficial California, Inc. (2000) 82 Cal.App.4th 19, 52 for the manner in which he handled the case for the class he represented.
